The Manchester Neighbourhood Care Groups Association brings together seven Neighbourhood Care Groups working together as a partnership. The Care Groups are always eager to find new partners and volunteers in order to increase efficiency, have resources and good practise, and augment sustainability for each independent group. Each Care Group has its own independent Management Committee and a paid part-time Co-ordinator. The main funding for the Manchester Neighbourhood Care Groups Association comes from Manchester City Council and fundraising.

The Manchester Neighbourhood Care Groups Association aims to provide mutual support by sharing information and experience. It aims to represent the views of, and act on behalf of, the Neighbourhood Care Groups when dealing with outside bodies.

The services to older people in the seven care group areas are provided through the individual Neighbourhood Care Groups by volunteers. The Care Groups promote valuing older people and provide opportunities for isolated people to meet others and be a part of society. The Neighbourhood Care Groups provide a series of volunteering opportunities for people in the community which we firmly believe benefits the volunteers as much as the older people they work to support. We endorse a policy of equal opportunities and would encourage anyone who wishes to volunteer for a care group to get in touch with the Volunteer Recruitment Worker.

Mission Statement

‘’The Neighbourhood Care Groups Association consists of seven individual schemes working collectively to meet the needs of older people in South Manchester. The Neighbourhood Care Groups Association aims to sensitively deliver a friendly, fair and safe service supporting older people using volunteers to provide social contact and general support within the homes of older residents in communities in South Manchester.

The Neighbourhood Care Groups Association will support both the needs of volunteers and older people involved with the Neighbourhood Care Groups Association schemes by providing volunteers with appropriate resources to deliver general support and ensure the safety of those using support services.‘’
